Unique in their network of fundraising branches The League of Friends to The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH) have been working up some exciting changes and are looking to the future of fundraising with optimism.
The hospital Friends are delighted to launch ‘Border League of Friends Branch’ – formally known as Chirk and Weston Rhyn Branch.
The branch, which is one of twelve, was originally established in 1967 and has a rich history of association with the hospital – from assisting with patient education and feeding in the late 1970s, to providing entertainment.
Fundraising events held in the past have included a Vintage Car Rally and Car Boot Sale, Charity Valuations; Nearly New Clothes Sales and Teddy Bears Picnics to name but a few.
The newly reinvigorated fundraising branch will now be open to keen fundraisers from Chirk, Weston Rhyn, St. Martins, Gobowen, Ellesmere and surrounding areas.
Rachael King, Community Fundraising Officer for the hospital Friends, is providing ongoing support to the fundraising branches as restrictions ease and they begin to plan their calendar of events.
She said: “Our fundraising branches are the beating heart of The League of Friends, without their support we would be lost – the pandemic has been incredibly tough on them but we’re very hopeful for the future and have some exciting plans in place.
“We’re incredibly pleased to launch our Border Branch and I would encourage anyone interested to join up today – not only will it provide you with an exciting opportunity to raise vital funds for the benefit of our much loved local hospital, but it will enable you to make meaningful social connections and wonderful ‘Friends’.”
Jenny Lawlor, Chairman for Border Branch, said: “We can’t wait to get back into the swing of fundraising and we’re thrilled to have widened our catchment area – we’re really looking forward to welcoming new members and hearing their ideas.”
